Japanese dealer auctions, imported for you

Japan’s best cars. Brought home properly.

Tell us the car you want. Our export partner in Japan finds it at the dealer auctions, checks it (with an inspection where available), buys it within your limit and ships it. We handle UK customs, VAT, vehicle approval, registration, number plates and handover.

How it works

Four stages, one adviser

From the auction hall in Japan to your driveway, every import follows the same four stages. You always know which one your car is in.

  1. Illustration of a gloved hand holding a pen over an inspection checklist on a silver car bonnet

    Step 01

    In Japan

Our export partner in Japan checks shortlisted cars and their auction sheets before any bid. You set the maximum price.

  2. Illustration of a car-carrier ship far out at sea under an overcast sky, seen from a rocky headland

    Step 02

    In transit

Once bought, the car is prepared for export and shipped to the UK by sea. We tell you when each stage changes.

  3. Illustration of a workshop bench with spanners, a torque wrench, blank yellow and white number plates and an inspection lamp

    Step 03

    UK preparation

We handle customs, import duty and VAT, vehicle approval or MOT, registration and number plates.

  4. Illustration of one hand passing a car key into another person’s open palm on a red-brick terraced street

    Step 04

    Ready for handover

Once it is road-legal and registered, you collect the car or we arrange delivery.

Why import with us

Proper, not pushy

Importing a car should feel calm and well explained. This is how we work.

  1. Inspection before bidding

Where it’s available, our export partner in Japan looks at shortlisted cars before we recommend a bid, so you are not choosing from a listing alone.

  2. Auction sheets, translated

Every Japanese auction car comes with an inspection sheet. We translate it and explain the grade, the notes and the diagram in plain English.

  3. Honest total-cost estimates

We show the whole landed cost — car, Japan-side fees, shipping, duty, VAT, approval, registration and plates — with our assumptions in view.

  4. Clear status updates

Four simple stages: in Japan, in transit, UK preparation, ready for handover. We tell you when your car moves from one to the next.

  5. A named adviser

You deal with one person at Coggy Cars from first enquiry to handover, not a ticket queue.

Enthusiast collection

Spec first. Then condition.

With enthusiast cars, the badge is only the start. The exact model, engine, gearbox and trim matter, and so does the evidence: the auction grade, the inspector’s notes and clear photographs of the underside and interior.

We look for that evidence before recommending a bid, and we tell you plainly when a car does not have it.
