Estimated UK landed cost

By mileage

Each row is a group of recent auction results for this generation. “Typical” is the middle result; low and high mark the cheaper and dearer quarters, so about half of recent cars landed between them.

Compared with UK prices

Toyota Aqua — 1st gen (NHP10): our typical estimate compared with typical UK asking prices for similar cars
Mileage band Our typical estimate Typical UK price Estimated saving Cautious estimate Confidence UK adverts
30k–60k miles £8,450 £6,150 -£2,300 -£3,550 High confidence 19
60k–90k miles £5,700 £5,850 £150 -£1,150 High confidence 18

Typical UK price is the middle asking price of comparable UK adverts, reduced slightly to allow for negotiation. Estimated saving is that figure minus our typical estimate. The cautious estimate assumes you pay towards the top of our range and compare it with the cheaper UK adverts. A negative figure means importing would probably cost more than buying in the UK.

High confidence means we found enough comparable cars on both sides, of similar age and mileage. Medium confidence means one thing makes the match less certain — for example a modest number of adverts, or a gap in typical age or mileage.

Auction grades

Every car at a Japanese dealer auction is inspected and given an overall grade, plus a letter for the interior. Scales vary a little between auctions, so treat this as a guide. This price guide only counts cars graded 3.5 or better. A figure such as 4.25 is a middle value that falls between two grades.

The grade is a useful first filter, not the whole story — where it’s available, our export partner in Japan can also inspect the car before the auction.

6 or S
As new, usually with very low mileage.
5
Excellent — close to new condition.
4.5
Very good, with very few marks for its age and mileage.
4
Good, with light marks or wear in keeping with its age.
3.5
Fair — more visible marks, small dents or wear. May need some cosmetic work.
3 and below
Noticeable wear or damage. Not included in this guide.
R or RA
Repaired accident damage. Not included in this guide.
Interior A to E
A is excellent, E is poor.
