About this collection

Dependable value and hybrids

Everyday cars are the sensible end of importing: small hatchbacks, estates and compact SUVs, many of them hybrids. These are the cars you want to start first time, every time, and cost little to run.

Japan’s home market had versions the UK never got — the Corolla Fielder estate, the Toyota Aqua hybrid and the Suzuki Hustler among them — alongside familiar names sold here under different badges, such as the Honda Fit (Jazz in the UK) and the Vezel (HR-V).

Because every car at a Japanese dealer auction has an inspection sheet, you can compare mileage, grade and condition notes like for like before a bid is placed.

What we look for

  • Auction grade and interior grade, with the inspector’s notes translated
  • Hybrid versions: any notes on the hybrid system and warning lights
  • Underside and rust notes on the sheet
  • Models that share parts with a UK-market sibling, which can make servicing simpler
